I shall not post this here in full, because it's long and has formating, but I just put up the promised essay on my blog about the genesis of the Horizon cover copy:

You could certainly discuss it here. (Or there.)

Seattle and Powell's will both include pre-signing Q&A sessions; I haven't been to the Poisoned Pen before, so I don't know if their space permits a formal program, but if it does, it'll also be Q&A. Hugo's hasn't the space for a program, but I will be pleased to chat with folks in line as opportunity permits.

Subject: (good news) Browse Inside Horizon
Date: Tue, 06 Jan 2009
Ah ha!
The "Browse Inside" feature is at last up on the HarperCollins site for Horizon...
http://www.harpercollins.com/books/9780061375361/The_Sharing_Knife_Volume_Four/index.aspx
Clicking the orange button should give you a PDF of the first 86 pages or so. It seems to take a while to load, but one can be reading the first few pages while waiting.
It breaks off in the middle of the first scene of Chapter 5, but if you want something more rounded I suppose you could stop reading at the end of Chapter 4...
I see the other books in the series also have Browse Inside buttons; for new readers wanting to begin at the beginning, one could direct them to the Browse feature for Beguilement: http://browseinside.harpercollins.com/index.aspx?isbn13=9780061139079
Because, for this month only, the complete text of Beguilement is available, which they dub Full Access. It is found on the Browse Inside feature for the book -- I see by my test run that this PDF too is a trifle slow to load, and wonky about scrolling around to random parts, but it all gets there eventually. It seems to behave well if one starts at the beginning and doesn't try to color outside the lines, though.
