(Update: Now soon! The PDF is here! Why are you reading this? Go get it!)
The last piece of art was approved, placed, and proofed. The book is nearly ready to send to the printer. (Curse you, job order paperwork!) But everything needed for the content is done . . . so we'll be releasing Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga Sourcebook and Roleplaying Game in PDF later today on e23.
This sourcebook has been in the pipeline for a while, but honestly, that isn't the driving force behind our eagerness to release it. Take a glance at the table of contents, and you'll see the real reason: this is perhaps the most complete GURPS book we've ever published.
Other settings have included GURPS Lite as an appendix; few have had a version customized as thoroughly as this one has. Other books have included weapons, armor, and ships, but none before has included the quick and easy Spaceships system for generating new ships, letting GMs create vessels new to the campaign or adapt those from the novels. Nearly two dozen worlds, half a dozen ships, and over two dozen characters, as well as a timeline, technology notes, and adventure seeds -- everything a Miles fan would want to run a game, or any science-fiction aficionado would need to introduce them to the world of Vorkosigan.
I could go on for hours, but it's best to see for yourself. The file was uploaded this morning; go get it! The full-color hardcover will ship to your friendly local game store in October.

No. Not hopelessly. A Vorkosigan never gives up. And when the fragile, dwarfed, odd-looking Miles charges headlong against the universe . . . Miles may break, but he's used to breaking. And he'll pay that price, for his Emperor's honor and his own, because when Miles hits it hard enough, the universe gives way.
Now you can enter the world of Miles Vorkosigan. Play his soldiers, his agents, his comrades. Play Miles himself, if you're up to the challenge . . . and if you think you can dare as much, and talk as fast, as the "little Admiral."

Steve Jackson Games is proud to announce that it has acquired the rights to create a roleplaying sourcebook based on Lois McMaster Bujold's award-winning Miles Vorkosigan novels. This will be part of SJ Games' flagship GURPS line.
"I've been a fan of Bujold's novels for years," Steve Jackson said. "It's an honor and a thrill to be allowed to produce a GURPS book based on the Vorkosigan series. In particular, we're going to take special care with the art, to make sure that both Lois and the fans feel that Miles and the other characters are properly illustrated."
Bujold has won the Hugo award for Best Novel three times, second only to the legendary Robert A. Heinlein. The Hugo is voted on by fans of science fiction, and is the top honor in the field. She has been nominated three additional times for Best Novel (including this year, for A Civil Campaign); she also won once for Best Novella. She has also won two Nebula awards; the Nebula is voted on by science fiction writers.
GURPS won the Origins Award for Best Roleplaying Game, and several of its supplements have also been award winners or nominees. The Miles Vorkosigan sourcebook is tentatively scheduled for an early 2001 release. A writer has not yet been chosen.
